EACEA-EUPAM Project
The discussion on the EU Pact on Asylum and Migration is high on the agenda of the EU Commission. However, the interests and positions of the individual member states are so far apart that a quick agreement and a conflict-free implementation cannot be expected. The most obvious conflict is between the member states’ demand for solidarity-based mutual support, which corresponds to the EU’s self-image, and the more or less clear rejection of any migration. This contradiction challenges the core values of the EU and thus may exacerbate the current EU crisis.
In this context, the participating associations from DE, HR, HU, IT, PL and PT participated in a joint transnational cooperation in order to promote respect for the EU’s fundamental human rights values in the context of the debate on the migration pact. The main objective of the project is to intervene in the public debate with well-founded and verifiable arguments and to promote the participation of citizens in these debates in order to provide civil society with an understandable basis for active participation in the public discussion process.
